This garden was designed for the Gardening World Cup in Japan in 2013.
The garden draws on the concept that inherent in us all is a common ideal of beauty, a vision of beauty that is said to be engrained in all of us from an ancient primal past. Flowers, trees, evidence of wildlife, a tree we can climb, water and a path into the distance are the key elements which symbolise this landscape which is universal and cross cultural.
To view this world people are enticed by sneak views into the garden and encouraged to enter into the viewing room. From this room the garden reveals itself in a picture window which includes the key elements of beauty into one view.
The viewing room is a contemporary structure made from simple materials but expresses that even in our modern urban world we can still all share in the version of arcadia and find peace through this.
